Artist statement: During a residency critique, I was challenged to consider adding visual depth to my work. To accomplish this, I added an additional layer of washed color shapes before starting my usual process. I was inspired by my residency experience thus far and the fact that 2025 is the year of the wood snake, a year of personal evolution and growth. Through the creativity of my watercolor practice, I discovered comfort in this challenging energy that others often fear or find unnerving.
